Faith-Based Organizations

Clergy and trained Lay Leaders

Clergy, Youth Ministers, and Trained Lay Leaders are dedicated to assisting families and their children. Within that process of youth and family development, choices for healthy living are critical. Providing key resources and trainings for faith-based environments is an important step in helping congregation members make healthy decisions including choices around alcohol, tobacco and other drugs.

Clergy also speak to a lack of training specific to counseling and alcohol, tobacco and other drugs and related violence prevention issues. Historically clergy have also been trained on “shepherding” related skills. Of late, a shift in training has tended more toward an administrative track in seminaries and educational settings. Clergy are often tasked with providing service within their spiritual centers of worship. MIPH has a proven track record for building capacity for faith-based professionals to help them help families and attain their service goals.
